We want to help relieve CEO entrepreneurs from the pressure of unnecessary health exposure so they can be highly focused on growing their business and physically optimize for the journey so they can enjoy getting there.

53          Hi, I’m Dr. Brian Brown and I’d like to personally welcome you to today’s podcast episode. Thank you for joining me. So you’ve noticed lately, things aren’t quite what they used to be. You’re a high achiever. Things have been going pretty good in business and in life. You’re successful and you feel good about your accomplishments, but there’s this mysterious gap between where you are and where you want to be. Some days you feel like your energy is zapped. Some days you may or may not feel like your motivation and zeal for life and work are gone. You may feel like you can just fall asleep if you sit more than five minutes undisturbed, you’re not thinking as clearly because of brain fog. You feel like your memory is slipping, you’re having sleep issues, you feel like your metabolism is slowing down, you’re having aches and pains all over. You feel older than your actual age, or maybe you quite frankly just don’t feel good.

57          You just feel bad and I’m not saying you have to have all of these things. You may have some of these things, but I think if you’re struggling with brain fog, chances are you’re struggling with some of these other issues. Now you aren’t quite sure what to do with these issues, so you do what everybody else does. You go to the gym, you start eating right, you start drinking more water, and then you consult Dr. Google, the infamous Dr. Google that tells us how to solve all of our life problems, but no matter what you do, no matter how hard you try, you never quite seem to get back to where you were in your 20s. Finally, you break down and go to your primary care provider. Now they draw some lab work and then several days later you get the call that says everything is okay.

50          Then from the other end of the phone, they utter these forbidden words, “Well, you’re getting older. It just comes with the territory.” Now, this is a scenario that plays out thousands of times a day all across the country. Now, traditional medicine though good at many things, doesn’t quite know what to do with a person like this. Many times they’ll convince you it’s in your head and prescribe you drugs that do more harm than good in most cases. I’m living proof of that. I’ve been placed on nine different antidepressants over a 16 year period and I live to tell about it. I’m actually off of those antidepressants now and have been for years thanks to something that I discovered that I’ll get into here in just a minute. The medical system is broken in this regard. It doesn’t have solutions that apply to this particular scenario. So what are you to do?

49          Well, first off, if your gut is telling you something isn’t right, it’s usually not right. When you feel that in your gut, something is off, it usually is. And secondly, you can’t convince your primary care provider that something’s wrong because they’ll simply only refer back to the lab work that they identified as quote-unquote normal. And then they’ll cite the reason of your age again and they’ll say, hey, what can you expect? You’re getting older. And then thirdly, you can become more informed, empowered with the right information that can lead you down the right path to finally getting answers. So how do you do this? Well, let’s start with the six-inch space between your ears. That gray matter, that thing we call our brain. I believe that knowledge is everything and knowledge is power. Starting around age 34 guys and 35 for women, our hormones begin to decline by about one to 2% per year.

55          Now this translates into all the possible symptoms I mentioned in this scenario just a few moments ago. Brain fog is usually the first or second symptom to be noticed. It’s pretty popular in men. Brain fog is pretty much caused by declines and DTA and testosterone and women. Brain fog is mainly caused by declines in testosterone, DATA, and progesterone. Now you don’t have to have deficiencies in all of these at the same time. Usually one kicks in with a decline before another, but typically over the course of a very short period of time, you’ll start noticing deficiencies in all three of these areas for women and all two of those areas for men. Now for men, this phenomenon of hormone decline by one to 2% per year is not really defined or recognized. In fact, the word for male menopause andropause and there’s no such diagnosis. It’s actually just the term that’s kind of kicked around in media circles and in some medical circles to identify what men go through, but yet there’s no formal diagnosis for male menopause.

08          Now for women, on the other hand, the phenomenon is recognized, even the early decline of hormones by one to 2% per year. That early decline is called menopause. And now PERI, P. E. R I. simply means before, so Perimenopause is the time before menopause. So for men and women, there’s the sharp contrast men. We don’t really have this identified for women. We do have this identified. Now there have been countless studies that have shown the association between decline and testosterone. Progesterone and DTA is being linked to depression, anxiety and memory loss just to name a few. And all of these things can cause brain fog. You have to ask yourself, have there been any specific studies to show that replacing hormones treat brain fog specifically? Well, the answer is not directly. Again, brain fog is only a symptom, not a disorder. And I’ve discussed this and the introductory episode to the brain fog series, so if you miss that, go back and listen to it.

18          But the bottom line is directly no. There is no study that shows that hormone replacement treats brain fog. However, there are studies that show the benefits of hormone replacement therapy on mood, anxiety and memory. So indirectly you can say it treats brain fog because if you look at mood disorders, whether it be depression or anxiety, if you look at memory issues, then you’re looking at things that definitely are linked with brain fog being one of the top symptoms in those particular classifications of disorders. Now, from my clinical experience, I have to say that brain fog is usually one of the first symptoms to clear up when you start bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. Now it’s beyond the purview of this particular episode to talk about the ins and outs of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. There are truly a small category of people that probably should stay away from them if they have some type of genetic clotting or blood clotting disorder or something like that and if they have other health type issues going on.

27          You need to modify the approach on the hormone management, but the bottom line is is that hormone bioidentical hormone replacement actually helps with brain fog type issues because it directly helps with depression, anxiety and memory type issues. When we advance in age, one of the things that happens to both men and women is a decline and estradiol levels. Estradiol levels come our testosterone. Testosterone is what we call an upstream hormone that converts a, the technical term is aroma ties. It converts or Aromatase [inaudible] into estrogen. So if it stands to reason that if testosterone is declining, then estrogen is going to decline. Now, this decline occurs more rapidly in men than it does in women because men have a taller cliff to jump from any need. Their testosterone levels are much higher so that when their testosterone levels are plummeting starting around age 30 by one to 2% per year, they noticed a significant decrease in their booed, their drive, so to speak.

36          There is an interesting study done out of one of the Ivy League schools, uh, years ago, I think it was Harvard, I can’t put my fingers on this study right now, but I do believe it was Harvard and where they looked at CEOs and major corporations and they found that the CEOs who had the best results in business or the ones that had the healthiest testosterone levels, now they were not discriminate male or female. They looked at both male CEOs and female CEOs and they found the same thing to be true with both sexists. The higher the testosterone level, the more assertive they were, the better decisions they made and the better they were at running a business and improving the bottom line of those businesses. So is it because of brain fog? You know, I think it’s multifactorial. I think brain fog plays a role in that, but I hope you’re beginning to see that hormone replacement therapy and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, in particular, is essential in this area.

37          Now let’s talk really specifically about testosterone, both men and women. One of the most popular things today is hormone replacement therapy with pellets. Now these are compounded at pellets. They’re exactly what they sound like. They look like they could kind of be shot out of a pellet gun and they are, it’s a surgical procedure where they make an incision on the upper hip and they insert a, a big hollow needle called a trocar up in there, and those pellets are lined up in the, on the inside of that needle and they inject those pellets up under the skin. Now the problem with this is, is the, the pellets can not be removed once they’re put in and they are dependent upon several factors. They’re dependent on your body’s Ph being a certain balance. They’re dependent on the, your metabolism being at a certain rate. Now if your body’s Ph is off, meaning you’re more acidic or you’re more alkaline than you should be, then the pellets are going to dissolve at a different rate.

36          If your metabolism is too high or too low, that means that you’re going to process these out of your system at a faster or slower rate. I jokingly say we clean up a lot of pellet messes around here. Um, and my particular practice, uh, it’s not unusual to have people that come in and say, listen, I’ve got to do something because the pellet therapy is not working. I’ve had four rounds of pellets, which that translates to a year because you get them about every three to four months. I’ve had four rounds of pellet therapy and all of a sudden I am off the chain, anxious, irritable. I don’t know what’s going on. So I don’t really know why that happens other than the dosage could have been increased or it could be a metabolism issue or it could be a Ph issue. But the bottom line is I see that happen all the time.

25          I would prefer when we’re doing bioidentical hormones, especially in the very beginning, I would prefer that we give something that if we had to stop it today, could be out of your system within 12 to 24 hours. And that’s what we have. And we give bioidentical hormones for women orally and for men topically. Men could take also injectable type hormones and things like that, but still the half-life or the ability they’re cleared out of your system is very quick, very rapid. So we’re able to get that out of the system. So just wanted to give that little primer on the differences between bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. It really takes somebody who is an artist and understands how to optimize and customize that for a particular person. Pellet therapy to me is an old throwback to uh, the, the medical system that we’re, that we’re trying to come out of when we’re, when we’re talking about age prevention, aging medicine, anti-aging medicine, preventative aging medicine, performance-based medicine, longevity medicine, whatever you want to give it, a name, integrative medicine, it can fall under all those categories.

33          I think when you look at pellet therapy, it’s a surgical procedure. It’s somewhat a one size fits all and I just don’t think that fits in today’s society where people are looking at very customized, custom-tailored treatment approaches. Sure. Pellets are easy, you don’t have to put them in, but once every three or four months. And it’s much easier to travel with if you’re doing that. But I’ve been on bioidentical hormone replacement therapy personally for almost 10 years now and have not had any trouble traveling with my hormones. In fact, it’s one of the first things that I make sure that I pack because it makes that big of a difference in my life. So that was a little side note. As far as bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, I felt like I needed to speak about that because it’s coming up a lot here lately just in everyday communication and talk with people who aren’t clients of mine that know I do what I do.

26          And bioidentical hormone replacement is only one piece of what we do in my particular practice. But it is a major part when we’re talking about people over the age of 35 or 40 and making a difference in their life and their quality of life and their longevity and just making sure things are taken care of. So I wanted you to be informed on the different methods of modalities of hormone replacement therapy. But that being said, what does it feel like when you get rid of brain fog? Well, my question to you on that would be this, how much more successful do you think you could be if you didn’t have brain fog to deal with? I mean, how much of a better parent could you be if you didn’t have brain fog to deal with? Um, I mean, I hear stories from just parents. I mean, these are successful business people and they go, you know, a poor everything.

15          Every ounce of energy I have in the work. And by the time I get home, I’m so worn out. I can’t think straight. I forget about my child’s request for me to stop by the store and get certain things for their craft project that they have at school. I forgot it about my child’s program at school the other day. Those types of things. So if you didn’t have brain fog, I mean, how much of a better parent could you be? How much of a better boss KGB? I mean, think about it. If you’ve got brain fog, it’s interfering with work and multiple areas, you’ve got to decide where those areas are, but could you be a better boss? Could you be a better lover partner? Could you be more attentive if you didn’t have brain fog? What if you’re a weekend warrior, you like to do things on the weekend, but brain fog was just kind of interfering.

02          You can’t quite seem to get it together. If you didn’t have brain fog, could you possibly live a longer, more productive worry-free life? Yeah, I think you could. Could you do some new adventure traveling if you didn’t have a lot of brain fog? Yeah, I think you could and you may be thinking, well how? What does adventure traveling have to do with brain fog has everything to do with brain fog because if I’m more organized than my day to day life at business and at home, then I’m able to make sure that things are taken care of. So I am at a vailable to do the adventure traveling that I want to do. Could you double your productivity? I see. Case after case after case where clients will come in after three, six, nine months of treatment and they’ll say, oh my gosh, Brian, I am twice, three times as more productive as I used to be.

48          Thank you so much. And I hear this over and over again. So can brain fog bring these things about in your life? Yeah, I think the can. Um, I think the possibilities are pretty much limitless for what life could be like when you get rid of brain fog, when you just clear it out of the way. So I want to leave you with this. I am a peak performance and longevity strategist. Now you may be thinking that’s a bunch of Gobbledygook, but it’s really not. Peak performance is a passion of mine. I think that we are brainwashed in many ways to just settling. And it doesn’t have to be that way as we age. We certainly can’t reverse the hands of time. I mean, I’ve got gray hair. It doesn’t bother me a bit. I can’t wind that clock back and take that gray hair away.

35          I’m 50 years of age. I just turned 50 this past July and that doesn’t bother me in the bid. I honestly say to people that I feel better now than I did when I was in my twenties to me, that’s peak performance and longevity strategies. What do I mean when I say I’m a longevity strategist? Yeah. My goal is to help people live a worry-free, productive life, have good quality of life. It’s not just enough to live longer. I mean the current medical system can cause you to live longer, but we understand that the quality of life is not there. So my goal is to help people live a higher quality of life as they live longer. So I’ve come to know that helping entrepreneurs, influencers, and CEOs achieve these things is very fulfilling for me. I helped them move from great to extraordinary by crafting the custom-tailored wellness plans for them that that helped them uncover hidden imbalances and dominate at the peak performance level and optimize for life longevity.

36          Now if you’re struggling with brain fog or just plain old feel bad or you’re doing okay, but you want to operate at peak performance and, and move into longevity a long life with a good quality of life. If that sounds like you in my inbox is always open, I’d love to schedule a breakthrough call with you so we can explore some possible solutions to get you back on track.
